After graduating from Cornell, I received a full scholarship to study at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. There, I received extensive training in the theory and practice of long-term psychotherapy. I then completed a two year psychology internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. At Mass General, I was trained in both contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

I received Massachusetts General Hospital’s Emerson Award for my research on how parent-childhood relationships and parental divorce can influence adult romantic relationships. I went on to do a one year post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). I have also worked as a staff member at Stanford CAPS providing short-term psychotherapy to university students.

I have spent over twenty years in private practice, providing individual psychotherapy for adults.
